We entered Preferred Hotel's #PreferredPups Instagram contest and won a complimentary two night stay at the The Jefferson Hotel in Washington, DC. So, we took a road trip from NY to DC and explored our nation's capital.
The Jefferson Hotel is a luxurious, five star hotel in the heart of Washington, DC. The hotel rooms were elegant, with features like a bathroom TV Mirror. The pups definitely received the royal treatment with comfortable beds and bowls.
Dog Friendly Activites
The Jefferson is in walking distance from all the major sights in DC. The pups came with us on a stroll to the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial and WW2 Memorial. Beware of the squirrels in this area. If your pup is a hunter, he may be distracted like little AJ.
We enjoyed breakfast at our hotel, at the faaancy Greenhouse. They had fresh smoothies of your choice, and chairs specifically for your purses.
The food in DC was delicious. FIlomena Ristorante was truly a unique experience. Before we even walked in, we were amazed by the Nonna making homemade pasta in the window. The authentic Italian ambiance was generated from the modest Italian kitchen and dinning area.
We recommend the Butternut Squash Mascarpone Ravioli, Corn Bread and the Fried Chicken & Waffles from the Founding Farmers. Also, if your a bacon lovers like us, you have to try the Face Bacon from The Pig.
Unfortunately, the dogs were not allowed at the restaurants, so we used Rover to find a dog sitter. We were able to speak with him prior, to let him know our pups and their needs. We recommend searching for one person for the entire weekend, as it allows the dogs to still have a schedule in a new location.
The Museum of Natural History was awesome and admission is free! We recommend viewing the Gem & Stone, Objects of Wonder, and Exotic Animal exhibits.
