Want to take a road trip? The Catskills are the paw-fect fall getaway and only two and half hours away from NYC. Our recent trip to the Catskills was relaxing with the pups by our side. Here are some of our favorite dog friendly spots:
Whenever we are upstate, we MUST eat here for breakfast or brunch. Some of our favorites are: warm homemade granola with milk, french toast, banana pancakes and eggs benedict. We are obsessed with the Apple Cider Donuts, which you can pick up inside the store. Every trip we take back a dozen to NYC, and we're lucky if there are any left after the drive is over. We will not name which Paw-ty Girl, but one of them ate 10 in one day.
If you bring your pup, you have to sit at their outdoor tables, which is totally fine since there is an awning for rainy days.
They also have a looking zoo on the property so you and your pup can see horses, pigs, ducks and goats.
If you are in the mood for some delicious comfort food for lunch or dinner, check out Chicken Run. They also welcome dogs at their outdoor tables. Some of our favorite dishes from Chicken Run are fried chicken, corn bread and mac & cheese.
To view the beautiful waterfalls from below you must walk down a steep path. To the waterfall and back took about two hours. If your pup is not agile or tends to pull on the leash it may be dangerous!
This was a difficult, uphill and rocky hike but definitely worth the beautiful view of the Catskills.
Whichever hike you choose, don't forget to bring a portable water bowl and water for your pup! In case our pups got tired, we brought our K9 Sports Sacks. The K9 Sports Sack is a forward facing backpack that allows your pup to tag along on any adventure. To get your pup in, lie the sack flat with the zipper facing up. Unzip it and place your dog inside. Ask him to sit and then put his paws through the slits. Zip up the bag, pick him up and your off!
We had to make sure the dogs were eating good while we were eating good. We brought Ollie dog food up for the pups in a cooler with ice and the freezer packs that come along with shipment.
