Our pups have been LOVIN' the beach all summer long. We take them to a dog friendly beach called Cupsogue Beach in Westhampton Beach, NY. Nocci & AJ enjoy playing football on the beach and running around. Plus, we get to enjoy our beach day without feeling guilty that we left the pups home. Here are some tips to prepare for your beach day:
Bring an Umbrella
Bringing an umbrella is necessary. Your dog needs somewhere to cool off from the sun. Our pups naturally love to be under the umbrella when they're not running around.
Blanket & Towels
Freeze a towel for your pups to cool off on. Also, lay a blanket under the umbrella for your dog to relax on. Bring towels to dry off your dog from the water.
Pack your cooler with ice and water bottles. We recommended making sure your dog has at least a whole water bottle to themselves.
Dog Food & Treats
Our dogs eat Ollie dog food, but when we go to the beach we bring dry kibble. It's easier to feed them on the beach and you don't have to worry about it spoiling.
Portable Food Bowls
Bring bowls for your pup's food and water and keep them under the umbrella.
Dogs can get sunburned too! Find a sunscreen that has broad-spectrum coverage, with natural ingredients and is water resistant. Baby sunscreen is most likely better than dog sunscreen. Of course, check with your vet before using. Make sure to re-apply if they get wet.
Collar/Harness with an ID Tag & Leash
Be sure to keep an ID tag on your pup at all times, especially if you are letting them off leash at the beach.
Ball or Toys
Bring a ball to play fetch or toys to bury and let your dog dig up!
If your pup is a new swimmer and you plan on taking them swimming, we recommend getting a life jacket. The waves can be ruff.
Don't forget to have fun!
