Dog's story (dog's age when you got him/her, breed, when you got him/her, from where):
I got 'Sully' at 8 weeks. Last memorial day I drove home to Maryland and picked him up! He is a full lab. His mom was a red lab and his dad was yellow so he has this amazing golden color. A lot of people think he is a golden. My neighbors next to my parents had a litter of puppies and my family called me right away! My sister and brother-in-law went over and picked Sully out. He's a true hunting lab.
Why did you want a dog?
Companionship. EVERYONE had dogs in Charleston. It's a super dog friendly city. I ended up moving to DC but he's the best dog and has adjusted perfectly. I take him to the dog park to play fetch daily and I live an hour from my parents in the country. I take him there at least once a week to swim or play in their yard.
How has having a dog changed your life?
I work from home so it's actually pretty easy. I do travel for work and I feel bad about leaving him so often but he goes to my parents and LOVES it there. I love him, he has definitely added companionship to my life.
How do/did you deal with having a dog in your twenties, may it be now or previously?
It's not that hard. After the first year, they get a lot easier and he's fine to be left alone while you go out and have fun :)
What is/was your daily routine? Any hard times? Unique characteristics about your dog?:
I work from home so it's amazing. He's the best co-worker I could ask for! Yes, of course hard times! He's super hyper and active (he's a freaking lab!). But I take him to the dog park just about every day for an hour. He loves people and other dogs and LOVES tennis balls. He has played fetch since the day I brought him. He picked up every trick: sit, paw, lay down and fetch as soon as I told him the commands. he's smart and eager to please.
What are some of your favorite things to do with your dog?
Fetch :) And swimming. He loves to swim and play fetch in the water.
Does anyone help you take care of your while at work or school?
While I travel for work, my parents take care of him at their house. He has a huge yard and water to swim in. He loves it there.
