When Nocci and I moved from quiet and spacious Long Island to loud downtown NYC, Nocci had trouble adjusting to the new environment. One year later, he has started to warm up to loud noises and big boxes but he is not completely fear free. Nocci's veterinarian does not think he needs prescription medication. Instead, his veterinarian recommended using natural supplements and seeing a behavioral veterinarian therapist. I asked my veterinarian about Nutramax Cosequin Calm Chewable Tablets and he gave the paw-duct his stamp of approval.
Nutramax Cosequin Calm Chewable Tablets are meant to calm dogs that show signs of fear and anxiety during thunderstorms, travel, loud noise and visitors. Signs of fear and anxiety can include: trembling, panting, hiding, escaping and excessive barking.
The main ingredients are L-theanine and Magnolia / Phellodendron. L-theanine is the amino acid in green tea, which stimulates relaxation. Magnolia/ Phellodendron helps control stress and anxiety. The treat should be given 30-60 minutes before the expected anxiety-inducing event or daily. My veterinarian informed me that it can take up to a month before there are noticeable behavioral changes. I will post a subsequent article about whether the treats helped or not!
I received these goodies free of charge from Chewy.com in an exchange for my honest review.
